Darby Penney
A founding INTAR member and psychiatric survivor, for 10 years she brought the perspectives of people with psychiatric histories into state mental health policy development in New York.
Recently retired as a mental health researcher, she leads the Community Consortium, which works to end the marginalization of people with psychiatric histories.
She has lectured and published widely on issues related to peer support and alternatives to the medical model. With Peter Stastny, co-authored The Lives They Left Behind: Suitcases from a State Hospital Attic.
